Construction of heat storage cooling and heating equipment

It is a facility that receives cheap electricity during late-night hours, produces heat, hot water, or ice, stores it in a heat storage tank (tank), and uses it for hot water supply, heating, or cooling during the day, or operates a connected EHP (electric heat pump).

  • As part of the energy policy of the Republic of Korea, energy (hot water/ice/cold water) stored late at night during peak hours when power is concentrated is used for daytime cooling/heating in order to distribute the energy used for cooling/heating, which is concentrated during the day, thereby contributing to the national energy policy.  In addition, energy costs are reduced by applying late-night (II) rates from Korea Electric Power Corporation.
  • KEPCO’s late-night electricity rate (II) is about four times higher than the electricity rate for general residential use, and cheap electricity is supplied (88.4 won/kWh) even during the day and outside of late-night hours. In order to operate cooling/heating facilities and apply late-night electricity rates, it is necessary to install thermal storage type cooling/heating facilities.

A facility that produces hot or cold water by receiving cheap electricity during late-night hours (23:00 – 9:00), stores it in a heat storage tank (tank), and uses it for heating or cooling during the day, or operates a connected EHP (electric heat pump).

The initial investment cost is the lowest among thermal storage facilities.

The size of the heat storage tank is larger than that of mixed heat storage. (Adequate space required for installation)

Maintenance is stable.

Need for water quality management in heat storage tank

  • Day and night power rate system supported by policy to reduce peak power of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)
  • It is approximately 4 times the electricity rate for general residential use, and provides cheap electricity even during the day and during late night hours (88.4 won/kWh).
  • In order to apply late-night electricity rates, the construction of storage-type cooling and heating facilities is essential.

Application of late-night power (II)

Compared to regular electricity, the basic charge is 1/10 and the usage charge is 1/4.
